Tofino Breath and Meditation offers a quiet and restorative space for individuals and groups to reconnect with themselves through yoga, breathwork, and meditation. Founded by Laura Heininger, the practice brings together over two decades of study and global teaching experience into sessions that are grounded in intuition and a sense of belonging. From private beach sessions to tailored group experiences, Laura’s offerings invite participants to slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect with the natural rhythms of the coast.

Laura’s journey into these practices began more than twenty years ago, eventually leading her to teach across the world in places such as Greece, Bali, and Peru before settling in Tofino. After years of living and teaching in the region, she founded Tofino Breath and Meditation as a way to combine the inspiration of the surrounding environment with the inner peace found through breath and meditation. Her approach emphasizes rest and relaxation as an antidote to the pace of modern life, offering an inclusive space for both beginners and experienced practitioners to feel refreshed while enjoying the natural beauty of their surroundings.

As a proud Tribal Park Ally, Tofino Breath and Meditation recognizes that its work takes place within the Traditional Unceded Territory of the Tla-o-qui-aht First Nation. As she shares, “it was essential for me to honour and acknowledge the land upon which we operate. ”This connection is reflected in the way sessions are often held outdoors, encouraging participants to build a deeper relationship with the land and waters that sustain the region. The practice aligns naturally with the values of the Tribal Parks initiative, supporting a shared vision of stewardship, respect, and balance between people and place.

For Laura, the work is rooted in both personal transformation and community connection. Through her teaching, she creates space for individuals to reconnect with themselves while fostering a broader awareness of the environment and community around them. She also encourages others to explore these practices as a pathway toward presence and wellbeing: “There’s always an alchemy between the teachers, the students, and then the place where the practices are taught.”

Tofino Breath and Meditation demonstrates how wellness practices can extend beyond the individual, inviting participants into a deeper relationship with the natural world while supporting Indigenous-led stewardship through the Tribal Parks Allies program.
